ASIDE Gastroenterology Vol. 1, No. 3 (November 1, 2025) brings together clinically relevant scholarship across pancreatology, hepatology, functional gastrointestinal disorders, and rare digestive disease. The issue includes a prospective study exploring alternative gastrointestinal diagnoses among patients meeting Rome IV criteria for irritable bowel syndrome or functional diarrhea referred to secondary care, alongside a systematic review and meta-analysis evaluating liver transplant outcomes in lean versus non-lean patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. Three case-based contributions further enrich the issue by highlighting unusual and educational presentations: pancreatic rest complicated by Actinomyces gastric abscess, disseminated hydatid disease managed laparoscopically, and annular pancreas in an adult presenting with chronic pancreatitis and duodenal obstruction. Together, these articles reflect ASIDE’s commitment to rigorous, clinically meaningful research that strengthens day-to-day decision-making and broadens the evidence base in gastroenterology.
